About Professor Guojun He

Guojun He is an economist who focuses on the environment, development, and governance. He is currently the Hong Kong Jockey Club Professor in Economics, and the Director of the HKU-Jockey Club Enterprise Sustainability Global Research Institute. He also holds a concurrent position at the EPIC-China, University of Chicago, where he leads the research work at EPIC-China.

Professor He focuses his research on the costs and benefits of environmental and development policies. He pays special attention to how governance structures affect policy results. By combining economic theory with policy evaluation, his research provides a solid factual basis for effective governance and sustainable development. His studies on air and water pollution policies in China have greatly improved public understanding of environmental regulation, public health, and governance issues. His cross-disciplinary research methods and his broad interaction with the public, businesses, and policymakers have deepened the understanding of how data-driven research helps fast-growing economies achieve fair and environmentally sustainable growth.

Professor He was selected for the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars program. He has also received several major awards, including the Ninth Award for Outstanding Scientific Research in Institutions of Higher Learning in Humanities and Social Sciences from the Ministry of Education of China, the European Award for Researchers in Environmental Economics under the Age of Forty, and the Zhang Pei-Gang Award for Outstanding Achievement in Development Economics.

何國俊是一位專注於環境、發展與治理問題的經濟學家。目前，他是香港賽馬會基金教授（經濟學），並擔任香港大學賽馬會環球企業可持續發展研究所所長。他同時在芝加哥大學能源政策研究所（EPIC）兼任職務，領導該機構的中國研究中心（EPIC-China）的研究工作。

何教授的研究聚焦於環境與發展政策的成本與效益，尤其關注治理結構如何影響政策效果。他的研究結合經濟理論分析與政策評估，致力於為有效治理與可持續發展提供實証基礎。他關於中國空氣污染和水污染政策的研究顯著推動了公眾對中國環境監管、公共健康與治理問題的理解。他所倡導的跨學科研究方法及其與公眾、企業和政策制定者的廣泛互動，深化了人們對數據驅動研究如何促進快速發展經濟體實現公平且環境可持續增長的認識。
