PhD Workshop: Governance and Sustainability

Hong Kong | May 20-21, 2025

HKU Business School and The HKU Jockey Club Enterprise Sustainability Global Research Institute are organizing a 2-Day PhD workshop, with Prof. Ran Duchin (Boston College), Prof. Xavier Giroud (Columbia), Prof. Dunhong Jin (HKU), Prof. Roni Michaely (HKU) and faculty from HKU. PhDs from around the globe can apply and/or be nominated.

We invite PhD students to apply to present and discuss their current research with a focus on Governance and Sustainability. The workshop will take place in person from May 20 to May 21, 2025 (Tuesday – Wednesday), for the full day in Hong Kong.

 

Submissions are open for both theoretical and empirical work related to Governance and Sustainability. Please submit your paper (PDF), CV, and a recommendation from PhD advisor to esgri@hku.hk by February 27, 2025 (Thursday). Applicants must be enrolled as PhD students at the time of the workshop. The program committee’s decision will be announced in March 2025.

 

For all selected students, we will provide lunches during both workshop days (May 20-21) and dinner on the first day (May 20).

For selected students not currently residing or studying in Hong Kong:
Accommodation: Two nights (May 19-20, double occupancy) near HKU campus
Travel Allowance: Up to HK$5,000 to cover the most economical air/rail fare of direct route between participant’s hometown and Hong Kong (reimbursement basis)
